Miguel - "Sure Thing" Video ((With Lyrics))

I'm so in love with Miguel's songs right now. Well deserved come up. This entire album is a banger.

Miguel's "Sure Thing" - from his album, "All I Want Is You" -

Love you like a brother
Treat you like a friend
Respect you like a lover

You could bet that
Never gotta sweat that(x4)

If you be the cash
I'll be the rubberband
You be the match
Imma be your fuse
Boom!
Painter baby you
Could be the muse
I'm the reporter baby
You could be the news
Cause your the cigarrette
And I'm the smoker
We raise a bet...
Cause your a joker
Truth tho...
You are the chalk
And I could be the blackboard
And you can be the talk
And I could be the walk

Even when the sky comes falling
Even when the sun don't shine
I got faith in you and I
So put your pretty little hand in mine
Even when we're down to the wire babe
Even when it's do or die
We can do it baby simple and plain
This love is a sure thing

You could bet that
Never got to sweat that(x4)

You could be the lover
I'll be the fighter babe
If I'm the blunt
You could be the lighter babe
Fire it up!
Writer babe
You could be the quote
If I'm the lyric baby
You could be the note
Record that!
Saint, I'm a sinner
Prize, I'm a winner
And it's you
What can I do to deserve that
Paper baby
I'll be the pen
Say that I'm the one
Cause you are a ten

Even when the sky comes fallin
Even when the sun don't shine
I got faith in you and I
So put your pretty lil hand in mine
Even when were down to the wire baby
Even when it's do or die
We can do it babe simple and plain
Cause this love is a sure thing

[Rock wit me baby
Let me hold you in my arms
Talk to with me baby(x2)]

This love
Between you and I
As simple as pie baby
Such a sure thing(x2)
Oh is it a sure thing

Even when the sky comes fallin
Even when the sun don't shine
I got faith in you and I
So put your pretty little hand in mine
Even when we're down to the wire babe
Even when it's do or die
We can do it baby simple and plain
This love is a sure thing

Love you like a brother
Treat you like a friend
Respect you like a lover

Robyn - "Indestructible" Video

Wrap. It. Up.

"And I never was smart with love. I let the good ones in and the bad ones go..."
I love this song. Because I tell all my friends like I tell everyone else. Never base how you treat your current relationships on your past. Love like the previous hurt never existed. Or you're destined to hurt yourself.

Now, the video threw me for a loop - but it seems the main character loves everyone like she's never been hurt before. So if you're going to spread love in that fashion - please, please, PLEASE - be safe. Take note of what color the water is at the beginning of the video - and what color it is at the end. Share your love too much, and it all gets lost in the paint. Thank God I'm a one man kind of girl...

Fembots Have Feelings, Too...

So, I've been going through some things. I've realized usually in my life, when things are good - they are extremely good. So good that I want to sing every day, give people money - dance in my socks and undies on the tile floor. So good that I thank God every five seconds for the blessings he's thrown my way.

When they're bad, though - they seem to be BAD. Like every curse that was blocked out by the blessings found a hole in the wall and came pouring into my world. Now me, I do my best to curb my emotions and keep a cool head at all times. I'll keep all these curses in my pocket until further notice. But as we all know - pressure busts pipes.

Today was it. The last thing happened and I lost it. Driving in my car, tire breaks and car swerves. Thank God I don't hit anything. Cried all the way home. Real, live tears!

As I drove my mom's car to where I was supposed to be going - I realized. What am I doing? Yes, things are bad - but look at my circumstances. I've got an alternate vehicle to drive. I've got good insurance to solve my issues. I've got a paycheck to make repairs. I've got friends and family to come assist me. I have options! Why am I wasting my tears on negative occasions when God's got so much more for me in store? I should be saving these tears for joy! For every curse, there are double the blessings waiting to come through. I don't have the time or energy for tears. I need all my strength to fight all this bad energy and keep myself going.

One of the rules of the road is to have clear vision at all times. My eyes are my windshield, so how can I steer clearly when they're all blocked with water? Wipers are on, windshield is dry and I'm ready to face the road again. I promise I'll never malfunction like that again.

Fembots. Don't. Cry.

Ever.

Tank Feat. Drake - "Celebration"

I am so in love with this album! I take it out the car and bring it in the house. It's on my BlackBerry, my Zune. I've been in love with Tank since "Forces of Nature," and if you've read my previous posts - you know I was anticipating this album. He has yet to disappoint, and I'm really hoping for a video from him on this and a few more tracks. Today I share with you - "Celebration" off Tank's fourth studio album "Now Or Never..."

When It's Cold Outside...

"There's no need to worry, cause I'm so warm inside..."

Feeling extremely homesick and torn during this holiday season. I had a great Christmas with my family, but something was missing. I asked Him if he got everything he wanted for Christmas and he said no - cuz I wasn't there. Tickled my heart just a little, but it's still a bittersweet feeling. I can think back to nights when he'd pick me up as the flurries fell. By the time I'd get home the next morning, the streets would be lined with snow. Those were the days. Makes me wish I was there now - blizzard or not. Nothing would be better to me right now than to be under his arm, getting smothered by his body weight as he snores. And I hate snoring - so this must be love, right?

"Refuge (When It's Cold Outside)"

I pray for better days to come
I pray that I would see the sun
Cuz life is so burdensome
When everyday's a rainy one

But suddenly there's no more clouds
I believe without a doubt
That heaven sent an angel down
And then she turned my life around

You know and I know
Friends come and friends go
Storms rise and winds blow
But one thing I know for sure

When it's cold outside
There's no need to worry cuz
I'm so warm inside
You give me peace
When the storm's outside
Cuz we're in love I know
It'll be alright
Alright it's alright

Oooh...

Now peace is so hard to find
We're terrorized and victimized
But that's when I close my eyes
And think of you to ease my mind
You take me to another place
There's no more war (no more war)
Just love and grace
Baby you restore my faith
I know the struggle's not in vain
You know and I know
Through all the battles
Baghdad to Israel
There's one thing I know for sure

When it's cold outside
There's no need to worry cuz
I'm so warm inside
You give me peace
When the storm's outside
Cuz we're in love I know
It'll be alright
Alright it's alright

Alright it's alright
Alright it's alright
Alright it's alright

Oh...
When it's cold outside
There's no need to worry cuz
I'm so warm inside
You give me peace
When the storm's outside
Cuz we're in love I know
It'll be alright
Alright it's alright

Oh it's gonna be alright
Ooh...

Cuz you give me peace
In the middle of the storm
When it's cold you're keeping me warm
It's alright
It's alright
I'm never gonna leave
You give me what I need
It's alright, alright

Joker's Wild

Don't chuckle at my shortcomings
Because my love is long
Longer than the days you see
Ahead of you.

I can guarantee my love and devotion today
But
 - I make no promise for tomorrow
Or that the urge to adore you
Will still exist.

Sleepless nights
Dreaming of your warmth
Can be replaced
By the heat of another
Keep that in mind as you laugh
Not so funny now - is it?
Messages like "I miss you"
Exchanged with "Yeah, I miss you too."
Feels better on the giving end, I'm sure.

Beers with the guys
As I sip moscato at home alone
Hope Tim has a comfy couch
At his place
Earn yourself a spot in this bed.

Roses are nice.
Violets are, too.
They all wilt and get replaced.
And so can you, too.

Wait - why so serious?

Untitled....

The demons of your past
Haunt your present
And threaten your future
With this double-edged sword
We can slay them together
But -
Only if you lower your armor.

Do you trust me?
Love me enough to stand tall
When the walls come down?
Do you love me?
Trust me enough
To defend you
 - Even when you're not around?

Then Let's do it
Run head first into the battle
We may not win
Nothing to it
Face defeat knowing that victory
Lies within

Us against the world
But if it's just us two
The competition falls between me and you...

Teedra Moses - "Backstroke"

I will never lie to you guys. Sex will definitely cloud your judgement...

Until you find better sex, lol

Roses, Thorns - and Pricks...

As I reflect on the past few months of my life, and my blog posts - I realize that my words have become more emotionally driven. A large majority of those emotions have been of longing, sorrow and sadness. That's not me. I know exactly why I've been this way - because my creative juices have been bottled up for too long. The holiday season has truly lit a spark inside of me that I miss and enjoy. The pleasure of brainstorming gifts, wrapping - the execution of delivery. The sheer look of enjoyment when someone I love opens a present I thoughtfully gave from my heart. "Elation" is the only word that comes to mind for me.

My rose is beginning to bloom again. I feel its petals strengthening; shedding the old, wilted flesh and bearing new fruit. Some seeds are just not meant to grow right now. I know that. Despite how that hurts, this flower is pressing on. You guys are my fortress of solitude, and I store my words here for safety. The irony is deliciously rewarding. I find joy in entertaining my phantom readers. Big thanks to my undeclared Master Teacher - she has truly put me on to game and enlightened me in ways she may never know. Liberation is beautiful.

On the flip side - I know I have to uproot the weeds in order to truly cultivate my garden. Some thorns have to go. Many will stick to the cuffs of my jeans as I work towards betterment - but I have to keep a keen eye and pluck them off; no matter how many times they reappear. It's bittersweet, I can guarantee you - but when I look back at my garden of life - I will see not a trace of them. You all have taught me some valuable lessons. I will never remove my heart from my sleeve. I will simply put a jacket over it for the cold times, and sunblock when the heat is on.

Trust and believe - there will be times when the snakes bite me. You may catch an emotional post or two. But once I take hold of my staff and stabilize myself - I can expel the venom and be strong again. I'm more than ready for what's to come next. A little bit excited, too.

And to my phantom readers, you can still enjoy the secret garden's view - from the outside...

Fire and Desire...

And so I can't see my He this weekend. I'll make up for that with extra time with my Littles. I very seldom feel so fulfilled nowadays. This weekend has been great for me, spent time with my best friend 50, had a gang of adventures in NYC with him, and brought the Little Ones their Christmas gifts. I let them open some early, since there's more in the mail and I won't be here to witness the fun. They had a blast! All these hours I've been working and all the stress is so worth it when I see them enjoying their gifts.

He's gotta work, so I have to miss out on his company this weekend. It sucks so bad, cuz I really was excited about exchanging gifts and just spending a little QT. But I know the name of the game, so I respect his grind. I'll be back in two weeks, anyway. Definitely gonna go into overdrive when I get here. Gotta find a freakum outfit for that trip, too. Ooh it's gonna be a zoo, heheh.

Something that's been on my mind though. When I move back up here, is it gonna be as exciting? Will the thrill still be there? When we'll be able to see each other on a regular basis, am I still gonna get those same butterflies when I see his face? Judging from our past history - I'm gonna go with yes. There's just something about him that's magnetizing to me. I can't explain it.  It's always been that way - for the past almost ten years. Imagine that. Even when I didn't see him for years he crossed my mind. I've wanted him since forever.

So many random thoughts are running through my head. Things I can't even tell you guys. I really just hope things don't change for the worst. Some things just take prayer, I think. Ugh!

Anyhow, ignore my random rants. My mind is so scrambled right now. Enjoy a little Rick James as a night cap, though. That always makes it better.

Random Thoughts...

So, put that heavy guard down
Baby, come and sit down
Promise this won't be a letdown
Like the last

Just let me be your girlfriend
Let the fire of that old world end
And the future will be better
Than the past

Watch the flames of love explode
And the rust of lies erode
Let the bitter turn to sweet
Because love should be the treat
Not the punishment...

HIV: The Monster...

So, someone at my job is in the hospital. Everyone that's gone to see him says the same thing: he looks bad. Skin barely clinging to his bones. One of my NY homeboys pulled me in and whispered to me - "He looks like he's got the fuggin monster..." Sadly, I have to agree.

Growing up in Westchester County, I was a very paranoid teenager. The county held the record for the highest AIDS rate in New York State up to 2004 - only coming second to New York City. Our city alone was the second highest in the county. Lucky for me, I was in a monogamous relationship for most of my young life - and I was smart enough to protect myself.  I was always (and still am) afraid of catching a communicable disease; as I always fear that they would be passed on to my siblings and loved ones through kisses or touching. Yeah, those are the things that run through my mind. These concerns have worked in my favor so far.

We had this ongoing joke, because of a porn he lent to my ex. In the movie, two roommates reported their stove being broken. The repairman comes to fix it while they "keep themselves busy." To test the oven, he makes toast in it - and does some "questionable things" on the toast. The girls eat it. Other things take place after. Every time he got laid, he'd say he "toasted the bread." Mixed with his broken English, the joke was hilarious.

Imagining someone laying in a hospital bed is terrifying for any person with a heart. Considering that it could have been avoided makes it even more horrible. Imagine being him. Thinking to himself that he did this to his own body. Wondering why he didn't use condoms. With the prostitutes he chose to be with. The heartache of knowing he'll never be the same. I remember him telling me he had a girlfriend. They'd always be breaking up. Despite that - he would still say that he "toasted the bread," leading me to believe he was either cheating on his girlfriend, or they had made up. Little did I know, it was neither.

HIV and AIDS plague the black community in so many different ways. Women contract it from their husbands, husbands contract it from their extracurricular lovers. Men contract it from their boyfriends who are living double lives. Prostitutes give it to everyone. It's a circular motion that could end with one simple piece of latex. Even in a "monogamous" relationship - you can never be too sure. It's a scary fact that is haunting people every day. I went to get my annual test last week, and breathed a sigh of relief when the doctor's assistant called with my results. You just never know.

We don't know his official diagnosis, so I can only pray for his recovery. Luckily in this day and age, AIDS is no longer a death sentence. So if he does have it - there's hope. I urge you all to get tested - and be safe! Let's hope the toast hasn't really been burned...

Seeing Red Part Deux...

It's been a full week since I colored my hair just about, and I must say I am enjoying it. The red seems to make my hair more radiant, despite the fact that I've been told it makes my skin look darker. I'm not sure what the problem with that is - but okay. On the other side of the fence, red seemed to be the color of the wild child - but to me it just seems like a nourishing wintertime hue. Darker colors are said to be more moisturizing because of the lack of bleach. We'll see when week two and my first wash take place. I'd say I'll be maintaining the red with a rinse, but Bob he knows what happens to pillows and scarves after that...

("Bob" is a reference to the cartoon "Rugrats," where Angelica refrenced God with such a name)

Red is a sexy vixen color, and just so happens to be my favorite color as well. I find myself feeling more edgy with this shade; this week I've been mixing up my outfits more. Today was leg warmers, with a funky hoodie I found in one of my boxes. Definitely looked like a cold-weather Flashdance. To work. smh. I am my mamma's wildchild.

Anyhow - I feel beautiful. I can't tell you enough how much I'm enjoying the color. My hair's behaving, I haven't had to blow it out since I got it done. Simply wrapping and curling the ends - probably because it's cold out. We know what happens if I sweat, lol

Oddly enough - you know someone had to mess it up. I wore my afro the other day, and this Ukrainian woman at my job looked at me when I came in with my hair straight and says:
"Oh, good. I like this hair. I don't like that thing you had yesterday. The - ughhhh. Eww. I don't like it."

I think she thought my afro was a weave. The power of ignorance. I guess because I'm a brown girl, wearing weave is mandatory. I looked at her and said, "You mean my afro? My actual hair that grows out of my head?" She actually looked at me and said "Yes." I'm going to use a language barrier as her defense. I apologized for my hair not being appealing to her and walked away. My Turkish homegirl Evis came up to me and told me the lady's stupid. But I already knew that. Evis' hair is naturally curly, too. So she digs me. Just imagine, though. What a laugh! For this exact reason - I am not my hair. I cut it how I want, when I want - color it, straighten it, wet it. It never defined me, and it won't now. Just imagine if it did - I would have been a wreck! Although, I still haven't spoken to her since that day. Guess I gotta brush it off and be nice again. Being mean's bad for my spirit.

Anyway, shine on, my sweets. Don't let anybody steal your light with their stupidity. Too many downers in life to add another.

Video of the Week: Jamie Foxx - "Fall For Your Type..."

This is the full version of the Drake interlude "Fall For Your Type." Drake has been known for creating these teasers and never intending to complete them; as seen by "Bria's Interlude" feat. Omarion (one of my favorites on "So Far Gone"), and "Something." It looks like Jamie took the reigns on this one and decided to go all the way. I must say, I love it. The lyrics spoke to me before - they sing to me now.

There's just always been something about Jamie Foxx's voice. Even from back on his TV show. We can thank Tank for a lot of his style, by the way. ::Giggle::

Here it is:

LittleSister AKA Baby Bieber Video

LittleSister probably thought I wouldn't find these, lol. I miss her so much - can't wait to surprise her this weekend!
This is her voicing her opinion about BabyBrother not sleeping through the night, lol - to the tune of Justin Bieber. ((side note: I think her being deaf completely affected her tone, lol)) Gotta love her!
