Teyana Taylor - "Her Room" ((video))

Produced by Taj and Mike Ho, it's an abstract concept - but understandable. This is the second female remake to hit big after Drake released "Marvin's Room," aptly named because he recorded it in Marvin Gaye's studio. The women have a different take on breakups, and clearly Teyana's love interest in the video is one we know and love, Omarion. Even beauties like him mess up, lol. I enjoyed the noir theme, but wish there were more to the storyline. Enjoy...

Lupe Fiasco feat. Trey Songz - "Out of My Head" ((video))

I think we all know how it feels to have that special someone on our minds all day. Lol, this was cute - and much needed after Lupe's past month or so of controversy. Refreshing, although the attempt at romance seems awkward for him...

Marsha Ambrosius - "Late Nights, Early Mornings" ((video))

Another hit from the Floetry queen. I see that she's really coming hard with positive messages in her videos -and I dig it. "Far Away" was a great reminder of why we shouldn't be so quick to judge others. This one sends a strong point to all of us out in the dating scene. Your status can change in the blink of an eye - please be careful!

Frank Ocean - "Novacaine" ((Official Video))

Much anticipated video from Frank Ocean. This song definitely put him on the map. As expected by the tone of the "Nostalgia" mixtape - the video has a very eerie feel. Creeped me out, but I loved it.

Chris Brown - "She Ain'tYou" ((Official Video))

The dancing has returned. Every one of us can relate to this song for sure - no matter from which side of the spectrum. Sadly enough for me - I've been on both sides. You live and you learn, right?

Rihanna - "Man Down" ((video & Interview))

I love this song - this is like our girl's anthem. I created a video in my head, but I never even thought they would go so far left with it. I got mixed reviews from the bloggers out there - but I gotta say, I love it. She gets so much cool points when she is allowed to dig into her island roots. The storyline is simple - No really means no.

Much respect to Rihanna for shooting the video out in my beautiful island of Jamaica. Wish they would have replaced Brazilian Vita Coco with Grace coconut water, but what's a goon to a goblin, right?

Rihanna Speaks Out About Violent ‘Man Down’ Video

Rihanna defended the video for her song “Man Down” on Thursday night during a telephone interview on the BET program “106 & Park,” saying that she did not intend to cause controversy but wanted to create “art with a message.”
The video, which has been shown on BET, depicts Rihanna shooting and killing a man who is revealed to have sexually assaulted her. It has been criticized by advocacy groups including the Parents Television Council, which have said that the video sends a dangerous message to assault victims and have called on BET to stop playing it.
In her interview with the BET hosts Terrence and Rocsi, Rihanna said that “Man Down” was “a song about a girl who committed a murder that she regrets and is completely remorseful about it.” She added: “We needed to go back to why it happened, because obviously she’s not a cold-blooded killer. It had to be something so offensive, and we decided to hone in on a very serious matter that people are afraid to address, especially if you’ve been victimized in this scenario.”
Rihanna, who in 2009 was attacked by her then-companion, Chris Brown, said that she had “been abused in the past, and you don’t see me running around killing people in my spare time.” She added: “I just really want girls to be careful. Have fun, be sassy, be innocent and sweet. Be everything that you are but just try not to be naive.”
BET said in a statement that it “has a comprehensive set of standards and guidelines that are applied to all of our content,” and the “Man Down” video “complied with these guidelines and was approved for air.”

This Memorial Day Weekend was awesome. My closest friends were all together in one location, and we definitely enjoyed the week. Miami was truly a zoo - and I think this is our last MDW out here. Next year will definitely be in another city, state or country - so we soaked up the sights and got our tan on.
