Tank - Underrated ((Video))

We all know how I feel about Tank. Utterly delicious.

He truly is underrated in the R&B game, despite having written for and recorded with so many top-knotch artists. I've been following him since "Maybe I Deserve" back in Junior High School - and he still hasn't exploded like I've wanted him to. Jamie Foxx, Aaliyah, Drake, Chris Brown - this man is Grade-A music! I can tell you so many songs he's written or sung that have brought many different emotions out of me. His time is definitely coming soon.

_Remi Life...

I finally decided to get a sew- in this week for my pending trips out of town. It's so much easier to maintain than the other protective styles out there - and the wig life just hasn't been for me. I'm way too clumsy to walk around with a piece of hair perched on my head. Already had a few mishaps, lol

My hair's finally long enough to braid up, since I've been cutting it for no reason every few months. I promised myself it's strictly trims from now on. I want to see  if I can get back to my length of a few years ago. It's gonna take a while, but it's totally do-able.

Time to take this glue-on off!

Thank Goodness for Morning Glory - the weave washed out in minutes. A quick blow out and flat iron got me back to looking human, then I wrapped my hair and wore it under a wig for the day. I love being a woman, there's so much versatility at our fingertips. My co-workers see my real hair once every two months these days.

Growth!

I spent my evening getting braided and weaved up, and I love this remi hair. I was never big on weaves until I both moved to Florida and went natural again. The humidity is torture on my head. I've bought some quality hair in my time, but I hadn't had Remi since in-between tracks in High School. It's so bouncy! I'm unwrapping it now to curl it, and I'm excited to see how it comes out. Remi life is the life for me :)

_the Naked Blogger - Reasons and Seasons...

God puts people in your life for a reason or a season,
a nightmare or a dream - and those goblins love teasin'.
Some bring rain, others bright as sun
Many wash away when the storm has gone and done...

Cherish the ones who will bring you shelter
When the sun beams hard, and the heat starts to swelter
Who will give you their hat, to protect your head
And take the rain on their own instead
Those are the ones who will save you from strife
From the winds and floods that we endure in life
May you build up the power and the strength of two
Should the shelter from storm be required of you...

_Trayvon Martin; Justice for Him = Justice for Us...

When I saw the news about this young man two weeks ago, I was saddened. Only saddened, because it seems that young Black men are being slain left and right these days - and we begin to become desensitized. Then, I heard the entire story; how Trayvon was simply walking back from the store, buying a small snack for his little brother. How the Community Watchman followed him, despite police dispatch's orders to stand down. How the same man claimed "self defense," even though he could have kept a safe distance. Trayvon being unarmed didn't even phase me; Sean Bell reached for his wallet and was killed by police. It was the simple disregard for the law, the blatant urge for power by this man that really outraged me. Who the hell are you to take this young man's life? Looking suspicious and committing a crime are two different things, neither of which would have warranted shooting the boy.

I became outraged when I reflected to about two years ago - when my little brother was walking from Subway to Burger King and then home one night. In my historically racist community, the police decided to "pull him over" and pat him down. Degrade him on a public street. Run his driver's license - even though he was walking. Walking. For a snack! I suppose it is suspicious to want a Subway sandwich and a Burger King dessert. No hoodie, just a t-shirt and jeans sitting nicely on his waist. My college educated, well-spoken, 20 (at the time) year-old, never arrested brother was pat down and released for crossing the street in his own neighborhood. Sounds so familiar...

I don't want to know what it feels like to get that phone call from the coroner's office. I never want to feel the pain of burying my little brother because of a senseless act. Or any act for that matter. How do we stop this from happening again? So many of us fight to break the stereotypes that surround our ethnicities; we go to college, work, take care of our appearance, behave accordingly. What more are we supposed to do? Trayvon wanted to work in aviation. At 17 years old, he had a plan for his life. He saved his father from a burning house at the age of nine; this boy was destined for greatness. Now he's gone, while so many real criminals roam the streets. Criminals like George Zimmerman, who shot young Trayvon without justification. He is on the loose, despite being a murder suspect who clearly has a mental issue. How can we not live in fear? Will my 11 year-old sister be next, while walking from the park? She likes to play basketball, wants to be a doctor - takes care of our little siblings. Does she deserve to die for wearing a hoodie at night?

Whatever happened to being able to play until the street lights come on? Mom sending us to the store for butter and milk? Big brother/sister walking us to the park to play, spending the whole day walking the town with our friends? Do those luxuries exist anymore? Can we be guaranteed our safety? It's no longer the kidnappers and rapists we must fear, it's the "Citizen Police" who take their self-appointed jobs too seriously. How do we govern our lives when we can be picked off like flies?

When you find the answer, please tell me - before it's too late.

Rest In Peace Trayvon. May your death save the life of another youth like you...

_Music Monday _ Slaughterhouse @ Revolution Live...

While recovering from my four day weekend extravaganza, I realized that I had not purchased tickets to the Slaughterhouse show in Fort Lauderdale yesterday. After the initial shock and frustration, I took a quick second to get fresh and grab LittleBrother so we could speed off to the venue. Luckily, we were able to cop tickets at the door - and we made it there before the guys hit the stage. Needless to say, they crushed the show - but I will say it anyway. The boys turned it all the way up for South Florida, and I lost my voice behind it all. There's nothing better than hundreds of fans rapping every verse word for word. Something about the adrenaline...

My camera was acting a monkey that night. I was so disappointed, but I snapped on anyway...

Joey did all my favorites - and then they all did the "Hammerdance!"

We all know Royce is my future ex-husband. Downed a bottle of Patron and a fifth of Jack Daniels onstage...

My boy Smoke AKA Chris Wynter - up next!

F.O.E. - Family Over Everything...

Simple...

Jetlagged and all...
More pics to come - but I am exhausted!! Hope everyone had a great weekend, I sure did!

Dunny Found - Thank You!!

So my friends used their heads and pointed me in the direction of the I <3 M.E. Dunny I've been searching for. After a quick query and order - it's back in my possession! I really appreciate you guys for helping me locate my little friend. Bar still rides with me every day.

The SneakerPhiles - Jordan XI Low Release

The name of my blog isn't just for show, I am a reformed sneaker head on the road to recovery. My first pair of Jordans were the all white XI mids when I was in eighth grade. Given to me by my best friend, I cherished those things like they were everything! Only to give them to my younger cousin a few years later, and my aunt making her wear them as gym shoes. Talk about death of a legend.

XI remains my favorite Jordan design, and when I heard the White/Varsity Red colorway was being released this year, I had to jump on board. I'll even stand on line for these! I've created the first outfit in my head - every sneaker freak has that first outfit. They'll be out just in time for summer - and short shorts!!

The tables have definitely turned, I've got to girly up everything these days :-/ Gone are the days of Girbaud jean suits to pair with kicks, lol

Big shout out to the Sneaker King KickGame for the update, I'm sure we'll be painting NYC red at the same time with this one...

P.S. - XI's look best on small feet :)

Missing: Dunny - Reward - $$$$!!

So I sold my car, Oscar a few weeks ago and bought something nice and shiny. Couple days after his departure I realized - I left my limited edition Dunny stuck to the dash board!! Some of my readers may remember a few years ago when I commemorated my lost friend in ink - as seen here. The inspiration was this specific Kidrobot Dunny toy, and I kept it in my car to keep him in my thoughts. Despite having it inked permanently on my hip, I feel that my new car is empty without M.E.'s spirit at the wheel.

This is where I need your help. If you know anyone, ANYONE who has this toy in their possession or knows where I can get it, I will make it worth your while to get it to me. I'm not rich, but this is something I am extremely passionate about and must have in my life. I know my bloggies will hold me down.

For security reasons, I won't post my number here - but if anyone has a lead on obtaining this toy, please contact me via email at Sn3akrFr3akr@gmail.com. I really appreciate everyone's help in this serious ordeal, and it will make me so happy to have this figurine back in my hands. Let's do it!
