Boobie Trap...

I remember when you used to love me hard. When dates were plenty and lays were heavy. The nights were young and the drives were long. Talking, laughing - enjoying each other's air.

I could cry when I think of how sweet your loving was. How you'd kiss every curve, love every ounce. Curled up together, you were my cocoon. Always woke up with a smile on my face. God, I miss those days.

Look at us now. What are we? I know you still love me. Want me. Need me? I see the flicker in your eyes as I cross the room. The way you steal glances as you drive. I ride. You know til when. Has this become - the usual? Your lips on my forehead as we sleep. The gentle roar of your snore. Soft kisses on my neck. Makes me smile. But that kiss goodbye, oh - that kiss says something. Is it, "Don't go," or "Don't come back?"
Even your eyes won't tell. But you reel me in, every time. And we live this life like we've got bulletproof vests on. How many times will we jump the gun?

Some call it - "Bait and Switch."

If you fear the idea of being in love, remember - I am not her.
I want that fire back, and I feel it rumbling inside us. I'm the match - you can play candle. Til we burst into flames and explode.

Or let it go.

My Favorite Things: Holiday Edition

The holidays are approaching, and it's time to start shopping. I've already got my long list of loved ones to shop for, and I'm excited because it's my favorite time of the year! I get a thrill out of buying things for the people in my life - especially when they enjoy them.

My family's always asking me what I want, despite the fact that I'm so easy to please. Mom's got my basic list- but here are my "fantasy" items. Most of which, I'll probably buy for myself ((evil laugh))....

Mulholland Brothers Safari Weekend Bag = $879.00

Now, it's no secret that I travel a lot. The issue that I've been having lately is that my duffel bag is too small, and my croc leather travel bag is too big! I found a happy medium in the weekend bag, and I can  double up and use it for school as well. Now, nine hundred bucks is ridiculous for a bag - but I found a cute alternative at Target.

Victoria's Secret Vintage Flare Sweatpants:
I absolutely love sweats! When you're a transitioning tomboy/piston head - there's nothing more comfortable than a good pair of sweatpants. These hug the hips and butt, then let off for a nice pant feel. I usually go for the elastic-bottom sweats, but this is definitely a cute change. Imagine how good my booty will look in them!

Dre Beats Headphones:

As a music fiend - I'm on a constant search for quality bass in an over-the-ear headphone. I tried Scullcandy last year, and they disappointed me (while the earbuds are still awesome). I have heard nothing but good reviews on these, and I can't wait to get my hands on a pair. These Crystal Roc designed headsets retail for $1500.00! I'll take your standard pair and be just fine, thanks.

Sims 3 Expansion Packs:

Every once in a while when I get a moment
to myself - my guilty pleasure is the Sims. I love making my friends and family, just to see what will happen to them. The game's somewhat addictive; I'll find myself playing for hours. I have game one - but need the others. One even lets you travel to Asia! Smh. I am such a nerd!

Floto Ciabatta Leather Doctor Bag:

I carry a lot of stuff! On any given day, I have my netbook, phone, leather planner, Zune and "cosmetic" bag in my purse. I'm constantly on the move, so I don't have much time to go back and get things once I leave the house. A doctor bag is perfect, because it stands up on its own and is hard on the inside (keeps everything organized). The Ciabatta bag runs for about $239. I have yet to find a cheaper alternative, lol

Socks!!

I love socks! They are always on my Christmas list. Let me find these Pigeon Dunk socks anywhere! I'll take a box full!

Air Jordan Winterized 6 Rings:
Now you know I couldn't end this list off without some footwear! Considering that I'll be braving the NY winter streets more often - there's nothing worse than spoiling a good pair of sneakers with snow. My dreams came true when Nike released the Winterized line, starting with the "Spizike's" (named after Spike Lee) and continuing with the 6 Rings. I am in love with the wheat color, which reminds me of a classic pair of Timberland boots.

Well, I think I've asked for enough! I know which ones I plan to buy for myself - but Santa will be rewarded greatly for any of these items. See? Easy to please. ((BBM blushing face))

Packing = Reflection...

As I pack up to leave this place, memories of you float across my mind. I find a picture of us wedged in a book, Mom sends me a caricature sketch of us she found in my old room. I thought I made that part of my life disappear. No matter how I'd like to pretend, things still aren't the same.

Will he ever love me with the constant flame that you did? How do I know that this whole thing will last? I don't!

And it kills me.

I knew you like a book - and his mystery terrifies me. Feeling my way around this love thing in the dark. Bumping into stuff, vision getting blurry. Is this right? Am I wasting my time?

You want me back, I know. But something in my heart tells me that's not the way to go...

But where is?

::sigh:: My life...

Back Wit Da Jumpoff

I keep leaving you guys!! We've made some serious changes in my house - CousinJan's on her way back to NY, while I hold it down in FL for a few months and make my migration back north as well. I've got a little time to get my stuff together, finish this semester and head back home with a full on game plan and the resources to execute them. I am super excited and a little nervous - but definitely ready for new scenery. I'm always up for a challenge.

Over the course of the next few weeks, my blog presence might be a bit inconsistent - but just know I've got lots to share with you guys and I will make sure I cover it all. Multiple posts in a day might be taking place, too. Forgive me, my lovelies.

Not to mention - a lot of venting. Are you guys ready??

Artist You Should Hear: Robyn

I've been listening to Robyn since junior high school - she's come out and transformed so many times over the course of a decade. You might remember her song, "Show Me Love" which was a hit back in 1997. Nowadays - her sound is actually her own - no more of the commercialized pop that she was forced to make, and I love it.
1997 Robyn

2005 Robyn

What felt like two years ago was actually 2005, and she released her self-titled album, "Robyn." I fell in love. Cobrastyle was an underground radio hit - which is a remake of Mad Cobra's dancehall smash "Press Trigga." When I heard this - I went crazy. Swedish chick doing dancehall? No way! But she did it, and it transitioned so well, that she gained a new fan. The album was awesome - still is. "Bum Like You" is my second favorite track. Peep my playlist to catch a few of the songs.

2010 Robyn

She's adorable, but the little Swede packs a punch. This new album - "Body Talk Pt. 1" has a great deal of hits - including one you may be hearing already, "Dancing On My Own," where she sees her love interest in the club with another woman and tries to catch his attention - but fails. I love "Dancehall Queen" for obvious reasons (Islanders, stand up!) You can feel her connection to reggae, even listening to the lyrics can bring you to 2010 Kingston or MoBay.

I'll let her music speak for itself - but definitely support Robyn and buy these albums. They're available on iTunes AND Zune Marketplace. No excuses!

The Come Up...

Sorry about the slacking on the blog posts. Just came back from a lovely vacation with the mister. It was definitely well needed, and we got a chance to relax and spend some quality time with each other and his family. Orlando was beautiful!

Anyway - the trip really made me prioritize, and I realize that I have some major moves and changes to make in the near and long-term future. Looks like I'm migrating back up north - so the next few months are going to be a serious grind. Saving up to move back is going to be a serious challenge, and I'm definitely up for it. I need the excitement back in my life; my cousins are moving back up as well - so you know we're gonna turn it up. I'll miss everyone in Florida - but my frequent flyer priviledges aren't gonna stop when I get back up there. You know the Sunshine State has a piece of me.

I'm really excited - and I hope you guys are ready to journey with me! Pics soon come from Orlando as well. Let's go!

Spoke -N-Heard: "Universe of Two"

By Me...

The more I see inside your world, the more I feel my body should orbit around it...

The planets align and eclipse the sun, casting shadows of our figures on the moon.
Seeing shooting stars - thank the heavens that I made my wish. As I beam you up, you probe me like an alien lifeform. No need to take me to my leader - you've already arrived...

You spin me on your axis, and the hours pass by. Seasons change as we rotate: rain, lightning - thunder. Our eclipse has ended - the universe is exhausted.

This planet needs a glass of water...
